Using movement, we work with your brain to refine your movement and open up possibilities for ease, balance and effectiveness where you want it most.
This can be done in customised private sessions or in group class sessions (Awareness Through Movement). Valerie is a graduate of a 4 year Professional Feldenkrais Training Program, and a Registered Practitioner with the New Zealand Feldenkrais Guild
The Feldenkrais Method® Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) classes are a series of gentle, verbally guided movement sequences that are intended to improve posture, flexibility, coordination and even attention.
The technique was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984). Feldenkrais, a physicist and engineer, developed these healing movements while studying and teaching Judo, and while in recovery from his own injuries. In his later years, he devoted his life to helping others discover their innate potential for self-healing.
These movements he developed, promote healing in people with chronic pain by replacing stressful physical patterns, with healthier movement habits. Healthy athletes, musicians, singers and dancers find that this method refines their performance skills and improves their poise and confidence. The Feldenkrais Method has also been proven to help people with neurological problems improve their learning abilities.
If you wish to enhance your well-being, whether healthy or currently experiencing physical pain, stress, or anxiety, you can benefit from Feldenkrais classes. You can participate if you can follow sequential instructions, and if you are able to lie on the floor and move independently. If you need assistance to come to the floor, and up, please consult with me by phone so we can ensure you have the support you need.
